As the Head of Technology in a large school, I sometimes find my head spinning with maintenance issues. Not only do I have to organise repairs for computers, printers and copiers, but I am also responsible for acquiring up-to date equipment and software. This requires constant research to ensure value-for-money. I recently purchased new scanners and a 3D Printer which I hope will enhance the curriculum and provide valuable learning experiences. Over the years I have picked up numerous tricks-of-the-trade when it comes to hiring service personnel, negotiating technology contracts or purchasing new hardware and software. I’m hoping that these entries will be useful to others who are in the technology game and would like some guidance.
